F BONDS FOLLOW UNEVEN COURSE High-Grade Rails Firmer, Secondary Groups Show Weak Spots, BY BERNARD S. O'HARA, Associated Press Financial Writer. NEW YORK, December 20.—Prices moved with narrow irregularity in the bond market today. High grade rails were firmer with the secondary obli- gations showing small changes in both directions. Atchison 4s, Northern Pacific 4s and Union Pacific 4s ruled steady to firmer. Baltimore & Ohio 4!:s, Erie 5s and Great Northern 4l,s eased. Some issues, such as St. Paul 55 and Missouri Pacific 5s, were a little bet- ter. Utility bonds were generally softer. American & Foreign Power 5s and Consolidated Gas 5';s lost nearly a point each and lesser declines were seen in Kansas Gas 4!4s and Detroit | Edison 4':s. American Telephone 5s were a shade higher. Industrial groups showed no definite trend. Goodyear 5s and Shell Union 5s had minor dips. Armour & Co. 4'2s were fractionally higher. Stand- ard Oil of New York 4'ss, National Dairy 5%s and American Smelting 55 were about even, United States Government obliga- tions gave a little ground, but foreign bonds were fairly firm. German 5las were up more than 2 points. Colombia 6s staged a similar rally, Norway 6s were better. By the Associated Press. Dearth of aggressive buying rather than any pronounced selling pressure characterized dealings. At the day's inside figures May corn showed a drop of more than 7 cents since December 7, when the best figures of the season were established. Wheat closed irregular, 's lower to 13 higher, compared with yesterday's finish; May, 98'caly; corn, Sgally down; May, 86%,a3s: oats, lgads off, and provisions varying from 2 cents decline to a rise of 7 cents.
