Haddon, flight test section, Wright | Field, became a member of the famous | “Caterpillar Club” late today when he leaped to safety from his burning plane | near New Carlisle. | Haddon was saved by his parachute | when he jumped from the burning plane at an altitude of 3.000 feet. He was testing the plane when the acci- dent occurred. Only persons whose lives have been | saved by a parachute leap from a crip- pled plane are eligible for membership in the “Caterpillar Club,” which now | embraces about 40 pilots, headed by Col. | Charles A.
