The school eommittee was directed to ask for portable buildings to care for the lower grades on the newly acquired school site at Tenth and Evarts streets, Efforts to relieve the neighborhood of smoke nuisance caused by the trains and the gas plant near Eighth and E?:m streets, begun last Spring, were rénewed, and formal protests will be made to the Health Department and the Washington Terminal Co. The dealers of Etowah County, Ala., assured this in a recent three-day convention here.
