Clark of Monrovia, | Calif. The bride-elect's father, be- fore his death a few years ago, was @& member of the Interstate Commerce ‘Commission. Miss Clark has many friends in Washington, where she has visited en numerous occasions since going to California with her mother. The prospective bride attended the Catherdral School and later Gunston, where she graduated. She attended the University of Arizona for two Years, and is a member of Kappa Al- Pha Theta. RIVERSIDE, Ill, June 5.—Slot ma= chines and punch boards have been ruled out of this village because the village's eighth grade pupils learned about them in the study of arithmetic. L. J. Hauser, superintendent of schools, who introduced & slot machine and some punch boards into the grade school to make mathematics inter~ esting and to teach a lesson against gambling, said today that the local authorities had acted to forbid such devices after seven of the eighth grade students had protested to the board against their use. The students—six boys of 13 years of age and a seventh, 12—appeared before the village board and an- nounced that a survey they made dis- closed there were 22 punch boards and three slot machines being operated in Riverside. They were armed with charts they said showed that in their study of their class room slot machine they had learned it took an average profit of 7812 per cent The punch board profit, they figured, was 89 per cent.
