With the main Halloween celebra- tion and parade scheduled for Satur- day night on Constitution avenue, sev- eral organizations today were plan- ning their own ocelebrations of the annual visit of witches and goblins. One of these—the Washington Post of Jewish War Veterans—will hold its fifth annual Halloween bal masque | tonight in the Jewish Community Center, Sixteenth and Q streets N.-W. An elaborate floor show has been planned by the Committee on Ar- rangements, headed by Nat S. Silver- berg. | The masque is an annual effort to raise fund: for the purpose of ‘“‘com- batting anti-American and anti-Se- mitie propaganda,” and to defray costs of participation in veteran and civic matters. Boys' Club Party. The 18th Halloween party of the Boys’ Club of Washington will be held tomorrow nig. Junior members will | be entertained from 6:15 to 8 o'clock, while the older tained from 8 bers will ent their second dance. More than 1,000 persons are ex- | pected to attend the Halloween drolic to be held at 9 p.m. tomorrow by the | Interior Department Recreation Asso- ciation in the new Interior Building. Two orchestras wiil play for the straight dancing and square dancing. Those in costume will parade in & grand march and prizes will be award- ed for the most original, funniest and most beautiful dresses. Dance at G. W. University. KOHT TO DISCUSS TRADE WITH PRESIDENT Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Also Pays Visit to Secretary Hull. By the Associated Press. Dr. Halvdan Koht, Norwegian Min- ister of Foriegn Affeirs, said todey he would “discuss international gques- tions,” chiefly those of trade, with President Roosevelt and Secretary of State Hull during his stay in this country. Dr. Koht paid Secretary Hull an of- ficial visit after his arrival in the Capital yesterday. Later the two made a joint broadcast to Norway. In his address, Dr. Koht said of his forth- coming talks with the President and Mr. Hull: “I shall have to talk with them about questions regarding our two countries, not in the strict sense of the word, political questions, for there are no such questions pending between us, but commercial questions regarding the exchange of articles between the two countries. Becretary of Commerce Roper re- ported today the Nation sold $63,000,~ 000 more in foreign markets than it | bought duririg September. Exports for the month aggregated £206,729,000, an increase of $76,000,000 over the same month & year 8go. At $233,361,000, imports were up $18,000,- 000 over September, 1936. By the Associated Press. MEDIA, Pa, Oct. 28.—Modishly- garbed Ruth Knight, 25, came to the defense of her father, Albert R. Knight, in Delaware County Court yesterday and supported his denial that he had anything to do with a fire that started in the basement of the Knight home last May 28. ‘The State has charged the former oil company executive with attempted murder and arson, contending he set the fire in an attempt to collect $100,- 000 insurance on the lives of Ruth and her two sisters, Susan, 20, and Mary, 17. The prosecution questioned G. B. Slagle about two fires in a cottage occupled by the Knights at Ocean City, N. J,, and another in a vacant store in Lansdowne, where the Knight furniture was stored.
