For- tunately the eye was artificial and the injury sustained was not eriouss e yet One corner of the eye was shat- tered amd it was. necessary for Joe to have the broken section, which was sticking in the corner of the eye socket, removed. This accident, and several others, resulted from carelessness on the part of persons shooting on Trumbo Island regardless of others who may be standing, or even living, in the vicinity. Young Richardson was talking with the driver of a tank wagon which was at the oil reservation when the accident happened. His only comment, aside from con- demning the reckless handling of firearms, was that he was for- tunate in that the bullet did not strike an inch and half further to the right, which would possibly have deprived him of sight com- pletely.
