STAGE TO PRESENT RED CROSS REVIEW Cavalcade at .Capitol to Feature D. C. History of Movement. The cavalcade of the Red Cross, de- picting in a blaze of color and pag- eantry its accomplishments, especially in the District during the last 20 years, will be presented at 9 p.m. tomorrow on the stage of the Capitol Theater, it was announced today. This dramatization of the Red Cross’ efforts is meant to spur the interest of Washingtonians in the current Roll Call, which seeks to bring 75,000 members into the Dis- trict organization. Army, Navy and Marine Corps offi- eials will appear on the stage with' a &pecial group of Red Cross nurses, un- der the direction of Miss Claire Gaff~ ney, chairman of the District of Co- lumbia Committee of Red Cross Nurs- ing Service, all dressed in full uniform. Other Army, Navy and Marine Corps officials are to occupy special boxes in the theater. More uniformed Red Cross staff assistants, directed by Mrs. Philip Young, will act as ushers for the performance, Tableaux of events memorable in the history of the Red Cross will be shown on the stage and Daniel P, Mulane, Quantico's singing Marine, will render “Rose of No Man's Land,” reminding the audiences that 20 years azo the Red Cross was active in France keeping bolstered the morale of the | American fighting men. A special or- | chestra arrangement, dedicated to the | District Chapter of the Red Cross, will accompany the program Gen. F. R. Keefer, chairman of V.he District Red Cross, and Otto L. Lund, | chapter manager, will represent | ‘Washington among the specially in- | vited guests. Among the others who | have been asked to attend are Ad- miral Cary T. Grayson, national chairman of the Red Cross; Mrs. | Grayson and Miss Mabel Boardman, | national secretary of the Red Cross and chief of the roll call booths. Marcy L. Sperry, chairman of the ! current drive, will head the roll call officials at the show. The pageant covers 20 years be- cause it was just 20 years ago that . the American Red Cross promoted its first roll call as a means of securing money to finance its World War work. JUDGE FIELD DIES AT 78; WAS COOLIDGE FRIEND Former President Started Read- ing Law in His Office in Northampton. By the Associated Press. NORTHAMPTON, Mass., September 30.—Probate Judge Henry P. Field, 78, in whose office Calvin Coolidge began the study of law, died in & hospital here today after a long illness. Judge Field was in partnership with Thomas J. Hammond when young Coolidge, destined to become Governor of Massachusetts and later President, started reading law upon his graduation from Amherst. Judge Field also sponsored Coolidge when the latter applied for admission to the Hampshire County bar, Born in New London, Conn., Judge Field was graduated from Amherst in 1880 and received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1882. MIDLAND, Mich, September 30.—A crack shot dentist, Dr. F. L. Hardy, who had kept his deer gun handy for months during a wave of attempted bank rohberies in Michigan, fired twice through his office window yesterday and brought down two fleeing bandits, killing one.
