Margie Heaton Dill, 20-year-old stenographer, charged her mother-in- law and one-time Senator from Wash- ington alienated the affections of her husband, Wendell M. Dill, also 20. The young couple was married in 1934, the day after being graduated from Predericktown High School. The next day, Margie said, her husband left for Washington, D. C., where his uncle obtained a job for him. Contradictions marked testimony at the trial. Margie Dill asserted her mother-in-law took her to the Na- tional Capital a few weeks after the marriage and arranged there an 11- legal operation designed to end any family tles between the couple and destroy their marriage. She said a| Washington woman who performed the operation was selected from & list | of “four or five names” supplied by the former Senator.
