SOCIETY. *» B3 Resume of Current Social Events Includes a Number of Weddings Secretary of State And Mrs. Hull to Go - To Staunton Wedding French Ambassador and Mme. de Laboulaye Will Return to Capital Today Accom- panied by Mme. Jusserand. THE Secretary of State and Mrs. Cordell Hull will go to Staun- ton, Va., the end of the week to attend the wedding Saturday at high noon of Mrs. Hull's niece, Miss Sarah Dean Witz, daughter of Mrs. Julius L. Witz, to Mr. Edward Monroe Bonfoey, which will take place at Merrifield, the home of the bride’s mother near Staunton. Miss Witz, who is more familiarly known as Tae Witz, graduated from Gunstorr Hall last year and has been a fre- quent guest of the Secretary and Mrs, Hull. Arrangements for the wedding are being as simply made as possible owing to the recent death of Miss Witz’s father, the late Mr. Witz. The French Ambassador and Mme. de Laboulaye will return to Washington today from New York. They will bring with them Mme. de Jusserand, widow of the former French Minister to the Uhited States, who is coming to Washington for the dedication ofa memorial to her late husband, which will take place in Rock Creek Park November 7. Mme. de Jusserand will be in Washington about 10 days and will be the guest of the White House for two days. Tuesday evening the Ambassador and Mme. de Laboulaye gave a dinner in the Corinthian room of the Hotel Pierre in New York, when their guests included the French undersecretary of state, M. Francois de Tessan, who arrived Tuesday on the Ile de France; Count Charles de Foritnouvelle, French Consul General in New York; M. Jean Appert, financial attache of the French Embassy; M. Maurice Garreau-Dombasle, commercial attache of the embassy; Mme. Appert, Mme. Garreau-Dombasle and Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Cartier. The Turkish Ambassador, Mr. Mehmet Munir Ertegun and Mme. Ertegun have issued invitations for tea this afternoon at the embassy from 5 until 7 o'clock to celebrate the anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish republic. The Bolivian Minister and Senora de Guachalla have gone to New York for the remainder of the week. The Panama Minister and Senora de Boyd, who recently came to Washington, will se guests of honor at tea Sunday afternoon of Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Lewis, who have issued cards for the party. Representative and Mrs. Allen T. Treadway observed their 43d wedding anniversary at dinner Tuesday evening at the Elms, Stock- bridge, Berkshire Hills, Mass. Mrs. James Clement Dunn, wife of the special Assistant to the Secretary of State, will go to Greenwichville, N. J., Friday to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Suydam Cutting over Sunday.
