Supt. of Police Ernest W. Brown today detailed 237 members of the force to handle traffic and crowds at Saturday night's Halloween parade, entries for which indicate participa- tion by more than 2,000 children, ac- cording to the Greater National Cap- ital Committee, sponsors of the cele- bration. Inspector L. I. H. Edwards, assistant superintendent, will have general supervision of all police arrange- ments. The police detail will be aug- mented by 200 District National Guardsmen, Maj. Brown announced. Among the parade groups will be one of 350 adults and children repre- senting the Recreational Club of the Buchanan Branch, Southeast Com- munity Center. The adults will be costumed as farmers bringing to the | Halloween market a harvest of danc- ing pumpkins, depicted by the chil- dren. Charles Fralick and Zellah Mae Blanton, president and vice president of the club, will lead this | unit. The Civic Committee, headed by Mrs. Harvey W. Wiley, has entered several hundred boys from the Boys' Club of Washington, the Merrick Boys' Club and the Northeast Boys’ Club. Perhaps the largest unit of young people in the parade will be entry of the city’s 30 playgrounds: In addi- tion to floats, decorated vehicles and marching groups will be the follow- ing individual marchers, representing their respective playgrounds: Twin ©Oaks Playground — Paul Raimondi, clown; Ralph Height- muller, dude; Bill Milburn, Maddox Johnston and Ned Clarke.
