NEW YORK, October 29.—Loans to business and industry by Federal Re- serve members in leading centers rose again in the latest week to a new high for the recovery movement. Expand- 1ng industrial activity and the normal | Fall improvement in trade have caused the steady upward pressure felt re- cently. Analysts point out the biggest per- eentage 'gain recorded in the past month occurred in the South, particu- larly Atlanta, where “other” loans jumped 10 per cent. The movement of cotton to market and its handling are said in financial circles to underlie this trend. “Other” loans of Reserve members in 101 cities, reported by the Federal | Reserve Board, compare as follows: Week ended October 31__$4,044.000,000 Previous week 4,018,000,000 3,343,000,000 RAIL MAKER—S FORESEE SHARP RISE IN ORDERS | BY the Assoclated Press. | ¥ CLEVELAND, October 29.—Daily Metal Trade said: “Rail makers Jook for a sharp pick-up in demand during the coming month, in view of the fact that the present price has been extended from October 31 to | November 30, with deliveries available until March 31.” The publication said a number of railroads “are understood to be qQuietly negtiating for tonnage.” . CHICAGO GRAIN B the Associated Press. CHICAGO, October 29.—Selling that was attributed chiefly to recent buy- ers took wheat prices to lower levels today from start to finish. One bearish factor was a trade fore- cast that the exportable surplus from the present wheat crop in Argentina would be possibly 90,000,000 bushels more than from the last crop. Another | weakening influence was that the Liverpool wheat market today showed in some cases 3 cents a bushel over- | night tumble.
