B—10 ‘Annapolis Fete Draws D. C. Throng|| Comdr. and Mrs. Forrest B. Royal, Comdr. and Mrs. Ralph O. Davis and Maj. and Mrs. Hugh A. Allen with their daughter, Miss Collis Allen, and son, Mr. Hugh A. Allen, Jr., motored to Annapolis this morning to attend the ceremonies marking the ninetieth anniversary of the establishing of the United States Naval Academy. They were guests at luncheon given by the superintendent of the academy and Mrs. David F. Sellers, and are remain- ing for the foot ball game and other activities. The Rev. and Mrs. Carl E. Weaks have returned to their home in Takoma Park after & month spent in | the South where they visited Asheville, N. C.; Chattanooga and Nashville, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala. Mrs. Clarence E. Miles was hostess at a charmingly-arranged luncheon yesterday at her home in Arlington, Va., entertaining as guests 48 of her Washington friends. Luncheon was followed by bridge. Dr. Charles E. Kellogg was host at & stag dinner party last evening at his home in Aurora Hills, Va., when covers were laid for nine. Out-of-town guests included Dr. H. A. de Weerd of Granville, Ohio, who is spending a few days in the Capital. Dr. Kellogg is connected with the Chemical and | Soil Bureau of the Department of Agriculture. Miss Rebecca Rice, daughter of Mr. | and Mrs. C. T. Rice of Oakton, Va, will arrive today from Hollins College, where she is a student, to pass the week end with her parents. Friday Miss Rice will act as queen in the| Piedmont Dairy Festival which will be held in Manassas. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Paine Simpson have returned to their home in Liv- ingstone Heights, Va., from a fort- night's stay at Berkeley Springs, W. Va., where they were guests at the Park View Inn. Before going to Berkeley Springs, Mrs. Simpson spent a week in New York City visiting her son and daugh- Mrs, ter-in-law, Mr. and Smith Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Arnold have as a guest at their home in Aurora Hills, | Va, Mr. George Holmes of Kansas City, Mo., who will remain for a few days. Miss Lavinia Engle of Forest Glen, Md., director of the Maryland League of Women Voters, is in Jefferson City, Mo., where she is one of the speakers at a reglonal conference of Demo- cratic women.
