The Communications Commission moved yesterday to restrict the use of free telegraphic privileges. Rules issued by the commission, subject to a hearing to e conducted January 14, 1935, provided that franks valid for use by company officers and their families should be limited to presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, treasurers, general coun- sel, controllers, chief engineers, gen- eral managers, general passenger agents and general freight agents only of railroad, steamsip, motor bus, air transport, telephone and tele- graph companies. Public Notice Required. ‘The order required that the name and address of any person to whom any telegraph carreir issues a frank shall be posted publicly in every office in the United States at which the frank is good for transmission of mes- sages. It required also that a monthly report should be made to’ the com- mission of all frank messages, includ- ing the amount of charges which would have accrued at regular rates. Declared Void. All outstanding franks which do not conform to the rules were declared void The rules and regulations do not | apply to officers of companies subject | to the communications act, to services | rendered under legal contracts for the | exchange of service, nor to service ren- dered by a cable company pursuant to the obligations of its landing license, ANHEUSER-BUSCH INDICTMENT ISSUED Alleged to Have Violated Code | by Furnishing Bar Equipment. By the Associated Press. Indictment of Anheuser-Busch, Inc., of St. Louis for alleged violation of the code of fair competition for the brewing industry was announced yes- terday by Joseph H. Choate, jr. di- rector of the Federal Alcohol Control Administration. He said the indictment was returned yesterday by a grand jury in the United States District Court for West- ern Louisiana. Choate added that the company | was charged with having furnished bar equipment to 17 retail outlets. The facts presented to the grand Jury which resulted in this indictment were secured by an investigator of the F. A. C. A, he added. “One of the most important pur- poses of the brewing code has been | to prevent the brewing companies | from securing a financial control over the retail outlets. “In the contracts involved in these proceedings, the recipients of the equipment were forbidden to use the same for the dispensing of other than Anheuser-Busch beer.” Threatened WEALTHY GIRL ASSIGNED POLICE GUARD. Harding, wealthy Lynn, Mass., lumber dealer, who has been as- signed a guard because of a tele- phoned threat to her father to “lay off” 'a current political campaign at Revere, Mass.
