SOCIETY. Barretts Will Give Reception in Honor Of Married Couple Aftair Will Honor Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Greenland. Yule Decorations to Pre- ALEXANDRIA, Va,, December 15.— Dr. and Mrs. Robert South Barrett will entertain at a reception tomor- row afternoon in their home on Duke street in honor of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Russell Greenland, whose marriage took place November 17. The drawing rooms will be decorated with Christmas greens and holly. The tea table will be lighted with red candles and will have a centerpiece of poinsettias. Alter- nating at the table will be Mrs. ‘Thomas B. Cochran, Mrs. L. W. van Bibber, Mrs. Harry Beverley, Mrs. Herbert Oliver, Mrs. Neville Hall and Miss Lucy Anderson. The president of the Belle Haven Country Club and Mrs. Eugene Lind- sey and the vice president and Mrs. John W. Howard will entertain at a tea dance at the club Saturday after- noon, December 29. Dinner dances for members and their guests will be given at the club Christmas evening (December 25) and New Year eve. Miss Katie Uhler left Sunday to spend several months in Deland, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Wheat, who recently closed their_cottage at Gun- ston Cove, have taken Miss Uhler's apartment on South Washington street for the Winter months. Capt. and Mrs. Marvel H. Parsons and their young son, Charles Henry Parsons of West Point, will arrive Sat- urday, December 22, to spend the holidays with Mrs. Parsons’ brother- in- and sister, Mr, and Mrs. T. Anderson Sommers. Miss Cary Ambler Smith and Miss Jacquelin Richardson Smith of Fred- ericksburg were week end guests of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Crockett. Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Crockett entertained at tea in honor of the Misses Smith and of three other of their young cousins, all of whom are debutantes of the present season. The other guests of honor were Miss Randolph Richardson of Fairfax, Miss Ethel Page Matheson, daughter of Col. and Mrs. J. R. D. Ma- theson of Fort Humphreys, and Miss Julia Ward Cruikshank of Alexandria. Mrs. Crockett received with the five young ladies and was assisted by their mothers, Mrs. Matheson of Fort Hum- phreys, Mrs. Charles Mason Smith of Fredericksburg, Mrs., Frederick D. Richardson of Fairfax and Mrs. Har- rison Cruikshank. There were about 200 guests, many of them from Wash- ington and different parts of Virginia. Mr. Rob- ert Bamuel Cochran, son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Brackenridge Cochran of this city, will be married Saturday, December 29, to Miss Amelia Weaver, daughter of Mrs. Robert A. Weaver and the late Mr. Weaver of Tupelo, Miss,, in the latter city. Miss Weaver s a granddaughter of the late Rep- resentative John Allen of Mississippi and is a graduate of Vanderbilt Uni- versity. Mr. Cochran is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Cochran and the late Dr. and Mrs. Jacquelin Ambler Marshall, all of Alexandria. Mr. Cochran attended the Episcopal High School and was graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in the class of 1929. Follow- ing his graduation in electrical engi- neering he lived in Schenectady, N. Y., and for the last year has again lived in Alexandria, with offices in Wash- ton. Miss Mary Minge Moncure, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cassius Lee Moncure, formerly of Alexandria and who now make their home in Richmond, will be married in that city Saturday, December 22, to Mr. Granville Baxter Coleman of Balti- more, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Coleman of Canton, N. C. Miss Mon- cure was graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta and is a member of the Richmond Junior League. Mr. Coleman is a graduate of the Uni- wversity of North Carolina. Mrs. Tiller's Tea and Other Pen League Plans Mrs. Theodore Tiller will act as chairman of the fellowship tea to be given at the District Branch of the League of American Pen Women in their Burlington Hotel studio today at 4 o'clock. She has invited the past presidents to receive with her for 30 minutes, enabling the club mem- bers to meet the women who have built the organization to its present high standing. The tree where the members deposited their toys was overburdened. These toys will be distributed among the poor children of the District to brighten their Christmas day. This is the club’s an- nual policy to pursue each year, and all of the members joined in whole- heartedly. There was a real Yuletide atmos- phere, including a Santa Claus to receive the toys for the little ones. The club house throughout was beau- tifully decorated with holly, laurel and poinsettias, At the opening of the meeting Mrs. Tilman Bacon Parks lead the members in the salute to the flag. A delight- ful musical program was rendered un- der the supervision of Mrs. Flora Mec- Gill Keefer.
