MYERS TO BE PUT ON RETIRED LIST Officer May Be Appointed Chief of Police Department of New Orleans. The President hu approved the ap- plication of Col. Myers, U. S. Cavalry, for trlnlfer to the retired list of the Army, under the provisions of the retirement law applicable to officers who have had more than 30 years' ac- tive military service. Col. Myers has been stationed at New Orleans for several years, and it is understood at the War Department he is to be appointed chief of the police department of that city. He is from Tennessee and began his military service as a first lieutenant in the 1st Tennessee Infantry during the Spanish War of 1898. In Februaray, 1901, he was commissioned a first lieu- tenant in the regular Cavalry and reached the grade of colonel in No- vember, 1924. During the World War he served as a colonel of Infantry in the National Army., and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and a .-é::r Sur citation for gallantry in m.
