Ind Mf!- Pipes—Outline of Social Festivities Listed During Week. FORT HUMPHREYS, Va., December 14—The Fort Humphreys Music Club | met Tuesday night at the home of| Col. and Mrs. H. F. Pipes. A very in-| teresting program was arranged by | Mrs. C. R. Bathurst, Mrs. C. F. Baish and Licut. L. W. Prentiss. The pro-| gram opened with a clever sketch by Maj. R. T. Coiner, Maj. C. C. Gee, Capt. F. R. Lyons and Lieut. E. R. Heiberg. The colored quartet from the Woodlawn Church Choir gave a selec- tlon of Christmas carols. Mrs. Henry Berbert played piano solos. Mrs. H. P.| Oram of Bellehaven, accompanied by Lieut. H. M. Underwood on the piano, sang several songs. Mrs. L. E. Oliver and Mrs. D. P. Booth sang duets. The evening's entertainment was concluded by every one singing old-time songs, led by Col. E. H. Schulz on the piano. Capt. and Mrs. Harley Latson enter- tained informally Sunday night with | a supper. Their guests were Capt. and Mrs. B. H. Bowley, Capt. and Mrs. | John T. Zajicek, Lieut. and Mrs. H. B. Mr. Franklin D. Shove of Mount Vernon, N. Y. is the guest of Lieut. and Mrs. F. H. Oxx. Maj. Rufus Putnam, formerly in the (:on:\sj of Engineers, arrived Wednesday night and was the gucst of Maj. and Mis. L. E. Oliver. Since resigning from the Army Maj. Putnam has made his home in Chicago. Miss Dorothy Cartcr, Miss Charlotte Grey, Lieut. W. W. Hodge and Lieut. Harry Meyer were the dinner gussts of Mr. and Mrs, Francis Tyler in their home at Aldie, Va!, Sunday. Mrs. N. F. Clement, formerly princi- pal of the Fort Humphreys' School, was the week end guest of the school teach- ers. Mrs. C. B. Cox gave a_ supper Sun- day night for Lieut. and Mrs. C. R. Bathurst, Mrs. J. Crawford, Mrs. C. J. Wolfe, Mrs. N. F. Clements and Lieut. H. C. Wolfe. Licut. and Mrs. B. C. Snow and Lieut. and Mrs, D. P. Booth were the dinner gu-sts of Capt. and Mrs. Harley Latson Tuesday evening before the musicale. Mrs. B. C. Snow and Lieut. G. C. Reinhardt were hosts at the Post Bridge Club Friday night at Harris Hall. Miss Jean Gee, daughter of Maj. and Mrs. C. C. Ges, gave a Supper party, followed by cards, Saturday night. Her guests were Miss Mary Prances Finch, Bob Coiner, George Hobson, David Crawford, Sam Lockwood, Stuart Gee and Allen Gee. Wednesday night an enthusiastic group of officers and ladics met at the Post bowling alley and enjoyed the evening in a game of bowling. Col. Edward H. Shulz has returned from a short trip to Chattanooga, ‘Tenn. Miss Lavilla Ward of Madison, Wis., was the week end guest of her cousin, Capt. J. Moultrie Ward. Miss Ward is the supervisor of the Wisconsin Deaf and Dumb Schools. Mrs, G. W. Reinhardt, who has been the guest of Lieut. and Mrs. G. C. Reinbardt, returned to her home in Boston. AMMAN, Palestine, December 14 (#). ~The transjordan national congress, attended by 100 delegates from all parts of the country, today reaffirmed its loyalty to Emir Aldullah. A policy of aiming at complete independence was @ecided on. Other actions by congress included @ecisions to demand national and local governments having the people’s full confidence, to confirm adherence to the Arab national otah, to work for the fed- erated Arab state and to protest against the Balfour declaration and the attitude of the Palestine govern- ment_toward the Arabs in the recent disorders.
