Prince Louis is understood to be dis- gusted with the turn of events and would have abdicated in February while he was in Parls had not the French government advised him to await the elections. ‘The Marquet party also is conduct- ing a violent campaign against Rene Leon, manager of the Casino, demand- 'his expulsion and charging him being responsible for all the ail- ments—principally decreased revenues— which have visited Monaco of recent years. PLAYING CARDS AMONG WORLD’S REAL ANTIQUES @ollection, Exhibited in Chicago, Reveals Prints Made by Wood- Cut Artists of 15th Century. CHICAGO (#).—Playing cards are among the world's genuine antiques. This was disclosed when a collection of ancient cards was exhibited in Chi- cago during the National Bridge Asso- ciation’s annual tournament. There were domino cards from an- clent China, cards printed from wood blocks in medieval times, others hand- engraved depicting historical events. Some had been carved by German wood cut artists of the fifteenth century. For suit signs the Germans used acorns, hearts, bells and leaves. The Italians used batons, coins, swords and cups.
