NEW YORK, March 29.—Heavy week end profit taking was readily absorbed and several leading shares were ele- vated to new high levels for 1930 in the busiest Saturday session of the year on the curb market today The ticker | fell nearly half an hour behind trading. Save in a few high priced issues price | ranges were mostly narrow, limited to int or so, as the large buying orders of}:(:t the week end selling by only a small margin, Several shares closed moderately lower. American Superpower was a strong spot in the utilities, selling up about a point to a new high close to 35 in a huge turnover. American Gas was also strong, closing up 2 points. Electric Bond & Share on the United Gas issues barely held their own in heavy trading. Motor and airplane shares were firm ts in the industrials, Cord Corpora- tion, Fokker and Ford of Canada sell- up & bout a point to new high ground for the year. Deere new stock, American Cynamid B and American Chain eased a little in profit taking. A high fiyer was Great Atlantic & | Pacific, which shot up nearly 14 points to 250, within a few points of its peak | 1930 price. "CANBERRA, Australia, March 29.— | Australia’s proposed wheat marketing pool under government auspices has re- celved a setback due to the decision of the state government of Tasmania not to_join the pool. ‘The exact effect of Tasmania's defec- tion cannot be known until official advices have been received from the remaining governments. It is believed most of the states are willing to join the pool. BALTIMORE, March 29 (Special).- The Rellable Stores Corporation, op- erators of 20 retail furnishing stores in 14 cities, reports for the year ended De- cember 31, 1929, net earnings before taxes, interest and dividends, of $1,662,- 868, as compared with $1,210,663 on a a similar basis for 1928. President Aaron Straus states that there will be applicable to 336,598 shares of common stock outstanding $3.03 per share, as against $2.06 per share on 286275 shares outstanding for 1928. “After most conservative reserves and write- offs,” said Mr. Straus, “net tangible as- |sets for the 336,598 shares of common mk were $5,580,542, or $16.60 per conom'r!
