CHARLTON DIES Veteran of Three Wars Expires in San Francisco. Lieut. Col. George C. Charlton, U. S. Infantry, who served in the Spanish War, the Philippine insurrection and the World War, died at the Army hos- pital in San Francisco, Thursday, ac- cording to War Department advices. Born in Greenville, Tenn. February 22, 1871, Col. Charlton served in the ranks from February, 1903, to March 15, 1925, when he was commissioned second lieutenant, Philippine Scouts. He reached the grade of lleutenant colonel in the Regular Army on Janu- ary 15, 1929. He was awarded a Silver Star citation for gallantry in_action at Bagsak Mountain, Jolo, _Philippine Islands, June 11, 1913. His widow, Mrs, Catherine K.
