There yet remain a number of the most important features of the Winter’s social roster and Tuesday they expect to dine with the Secretary of War and Mrs. Davis. TH‘E Attorney General and Mrs. Sargent and the Secretary of In- terior.and Mrs. West will entertain their dinner companies in honor of the President and Mrs. Coolidge at the Willard Hotel, the first event to be January 8, and the latter dinner on January 29. At both of these dinners the chef, who long served the Chief Executive and the First Lady of the Land while they were residents in the hotel, will see that their favorite menu is given; even to the small detail of confections this care will be given. PLANS at the embassy of Great Britain are almost-as uncertain as those at the White House, with fluctuating news of the condition of the King constantly drifting in over the cable. However, the Am- bassador and Lady Isabella Howard were guests at dinner last night of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Meyer, jr.; when.they also had the Ambassa- dor of France and Mme. Claudel in their company of more than 20. However, each acceptance from the embassy is tentative, and the death of the-King would throw a large number of diplomats into mourning. - ANOTHER occasion of the week to call together the social fo;ces of the Capital is the musical in the Pan-American Union Build- ing Tuesday evening, in honor of the delegates to the Pan-American Conference on Arbitration and Conciliation, and to which the chiefs of the diplomatic missions from 48 nations have been invited. Dyla Josetti, the Brazilian pianist, and Ennio Bolognini, the Argentine cellist, are to have supporting parts, with Mme. Sofia del Campo, the Chilean soprano, the star of | the evening. It is hoped the guests will gather promptly. THXS week will be a gay one socially, the younger members of so- ciety centering their chief efforts on the Society Circus to be given by the Junior League. This affair is to furnish a constant stream of effervescent fun through the afternoon and evening of ‘Wednesday, the scene of action being in the basement of the Washington Audi- torium.
