MADISON, Wis., January 14.—Pro- gressive control of both Wisconsin legislative houses apparently fore- stalled today a threatened investi- gation of Dr. Glenn Frank's dismissal from the University of Wisconsin | presidency. Gov. Philip F. La Follette's party, aided by six Democrats and a Repub- lican, gained the speakership of the | Assembly yesterday, the presidency pro tem of the Senate and named its own Committee on Committees, which | eontrols committee assignments. Opponents of Gov. La Follette had prepared to ask an investigation of the Frank case and proposed taking from him the power to appoint uni- versity regents. But they intimated it would be useless to press such de- mands in the face of the Progressive- dominated Assembly organization. A bloc of La Follette-appointed re- | gents voted to remove Frank last week Political opponents of the Progres- ®ives indicated, however, that they would review the Frank case when the university budget comes up for consideration.
