Extremely fast trading flurries punctuated the session, but there were slow intervals. Transfers approxi- mated 3,200,000 shares. Coppers had a brief lively moment when one producer boosted the do- mestic price of the red metal 13 cent to 13 cents a pound, the best level since 1930. Other copper interests were a bit hesitant to follow as foreign | output restrictions were temporarily abandoned. Agriculture machinery issues enjoyed one of their occasional sharp upward swings, which brokers attributed part- ly to a “thin” market for this depart- ment, although business prospects were | said to be bright for the manufactur- ers. Stocks selling under $20 a share were the most active of the day, with utilities prominent. The latter, though, were inclined to slip fractionally.
