PLAN IS APPROVED FOR YELLOW TRUCK Sale of 900,000 Additional Shares of Class B Stock Backed at Stockholders' Session. B the Associated Press. NEW YORK, November 5.—Stock- holders of the Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Co. Pontiac, Mich., have approved a recapitaliza- tion plan and sale of 900,000 addi- tional shares of class B stock, it was announced today at the offices of the General Motors Corp., which controls the truck unit. The plan, voted yesterday in a spe- cial meeting at Portland, Me, calls for reduction in par value of the class B and common from $10 to $1 a share and increase in the authorized outstanding class B to 2,200,000 shares from 1,300,000. It paves the way for payment of | $4,500,000 in accumulated dividends on the preferred stock out of esti- mated 1936 earnings. Sale of the ad- ditional class B shares to present com- mon and class B holders, the com- pany explained, is aimed to replenish | the cash account after payment of | the dividend to avoid the Federal sur- tax upon undistributed profits and provide additional working capital. A registration statement has been | filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission at Washington covering the added stock. ABBOTT LABORATORIES SALES CLIMB SHARPLY BY the Associated Press. NEW YORK, November 5.—The volume of bank clearings for the short week, occasioned by the election-day holiday, was curtailed slightly. ‘The total for 22 leading cities, as reported to Dun & Bradstreet, for the five days ended Wednesday, November 4, was $5,208,156,000, against $4,987,- 404,000 last year, a gain of 6.2 per cent. ‘This improvement is further em- phasized by the fact that four days of the first-of-the-month settlements were included in last year's report, whereas there were only two this year. A week earlier, there was an increase of 19.5 per cent in the comparison with the preceding year. Clearings at New York City amounted to $3,323,716,000, a gain of 8.4 per cent over the $3,067,022,000 in the similar 1935 period. At outside centers the aggregate was $1,974,440,- 000, which was 2.8 per cent above the $1,920,382,000 recorded a year ago. The majority of outside cities showed improvement over the totals in the corresponding 1935 week. The largest of these gains appeared at Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, At- lanta and Detroit. Declines occurred at Philadelphia, New Orleans, St. Louis, Louisville, Minneapolis and Omaha. | Total bank clearings dropped $484,- | 517,000 below the amount for the week previous. Between the two com- parative weeks in 1935 there was an | ance of $146,973,000.
