ARRYING forward its plan of “teaching teachers how to teach radio,” the Federal Education Radio Workshop Project has resumed its alliance with New York University and has an- nounced that two more six-week courses in building and producing radio programs, script-writing, acting and other phases of broadcasting will be offered to special groups of stu- dents at the university. ‘The first such course was offered last Summer and 19 students, many of them radio and speech instructors at various schools and colleges, were graduated. The new courses will last from November 9 to December 23 and from January 4 to February 11, respectively, with the staffs of the Radio Workshop and the university project collaborating. The Radio Workshop Project, headed by Dr. John W. Studebaker, United States commissioner of education, and directed by William D. Boutwell, edi- tor of the United States Office of Edu- cation, is operating under a $113,000 W. P. A. grant, which will last nine months, and which supplements the $75,000 grant which it operated until October 1. Some 75 persons, drawn largely from C. C. C. camps and re- lief rolls and supplemented by trained personnel, are emjloyed—half the staff being located in Washington and half on the New York University campus. AS ‘TELEVISION presents itself in another demonstration late Friday afternoon, apparently the greater stress is to be laid on its program pos- ORMOM! BY the Associated Press. It was at her request, according to friends, that Tennyson wrote the poem “In Memoriam.” sibilities rather than its technical progress. This is indicated by the fact that while the R. C. A. system of picture broadcasting will be used, the show- ing is to be in complete charge of N. B. C, its television program ex- perts and its talent having television attribuies. Extensive preparations are being made for the demonstration, the sec- ond of the R. C. A. system this year for newspaper men. C T.
