NEW YORK, October 3.—Pushing forward to new high levels today on momentum gained from Friday's sharp advance, the curb market closed with a wide list of gains rang- ing from fractions to 3 points. Industrials were the bellwethers of the move as on Friday. Interstate Hosiery rose 3Js to 3133, Newmont 2% to 91, American Potash 2!3 to 32'2, Aluminum Co. of America 2% to 13312, and Pan American Airways 2 to 58. Advances ranging from fractions to around a point were made by Ameri- can Fork & Hoe, Mangel Stores preferred, Sherwin Williams, Thew Shovel, U. S. Radiator preferred, American Gas & Electric and Fisk Rubber. Transactions totaled 369,000 shares, the largest for a two-hour session since March 21. BALTIMORE, Md., October 3.—The live poultry market hoids steady to| firm, with values on old hens showing an increase over last week, but prices | 18a20 for Rocks, 17a18 for mixed col- ored, 17al8 for Leghorns, with all poor thin stock hard to move at 15a16. | In the fowl class, Rocks are bring- | ing top prices at 21a23; mixed colored, 18a21; Leghorns, 12a14; but poor, thin fowl, as well as old roosters, are slow sale at 14a16. Young ducks are in better demand and values show an advance at 14al7. Young guinea fowl, 2 pounds and over cleaned up readily at 45 each, with smaller bringing 30a40. Under more liberal receipts from all sections the egg market shows no change from last week, but values are well maintained at 35a36 for large whites, 30a33 for medium and 29a30 for current receipts, with Southern stock selling mostly 26a28. Live Steck Receipts Up. Live stock marketings showed ex- pansion in most branches during the last week, cattle reaching the highest volume of the curremt season, accord- ing to the weekly report of the local bureau of the Department of Agri- culture. Price levels, although fluctuating slightly, did not show much material change for the period. In the cattle division a large volume of medium grade grass steers scaling 1,100-1,300 pounds sold at 7.25a7.75, while a few loads of good steers common steers under 1,150 pounds found outlet at 6.25a6.75. A few loads of medium to good weighty and fleshy feeder steers went back to the country at 6.50a7.20, while most lots of common light-weight stockers brought 5.25a6.00. Several loads of common and medium grade heifers | sold at 5.00 to 7.00. Most of the com- mon and medium grade cows brought | 450525, & few good cows reaching an extreme of 5.75, while low cutters Medium bulls went at 5.25a5.75. Most Values ai $10.50. ‘The bulk of better grade vealers cashed at 10.50, with a few choice vealers, 11.00. Common and medium grades brought 8.00a10.00, while culls sold around 7.00. Best 140-155 pound weights cleared at 10.30a10.60, and 120-140 pound slaughter pigs, 9.90a10.20; good packing sows cleared at 8.90a 9.50; good stags at 7.75 and down.
