Mrs. Finks explained that of the total amount necessary for completing called upon to furnish but $187,027.50, the remaining $153,022.50 being given to the county as an outright grant by the Public Works Administration. Attention to greatly overcrowded class rooms was stressed by Mrs. Davis, who pointed to the fact the number of children enrolled in local schools has increased about 20 per cent in the last five years. Opposition Expressed. Opposition to thr proposed program was voiced from the McLean com- | munity and Dranesville district, many | citizens in the former center feeling that schools should have been in- cluded for repairs in the program, while residents of the latter section, who bear the highest tax rate in the county, were opposed to any further increase.
