SOCIETY. Mrs. Roosevelt Returns To Executive Mansion Early Next Week Cabinet Member Due Back Tomorrow. Other Officials Prominent in % Day’s News. ~ RS.ROOSEVELTIIexpecdem Paris and will sail to return to to return to the White House the first part of next week to remain but a few days before going to Hyde Park to await the return of the President. Mrs. Roosevelt accompanied the President to the West Coast and re- mained to see him sail on a fishing trip. She is returning to the Capital by plane, stopping off to make several visits. Her first stop was at Santa Fe, N. Mex., where she went to see Mrs. Genevieve Forbes Herrick, who was injured in the automobile crash in August in which Mrs. Harold L. Ickes, wife of the Secretary of the Interior, was killed. ‘Yesterday Mrs. Roosevelt arrived at Fort Worth, Tex., to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. EMiott Roosevelt, and last night the Presi- dent’s wife spoke before the South- western Regional Welfare Conference. ‘The Secretary of Labor, Miss Fran- ees Perkins, is expected to return to ‘Washington tomorrow evening from Ashville, where she went to attend the meeting of the International As- sociation of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions. Senator and Mrs. Warren R. Austin have arrived at Heaton Hall, at Stock- bridge, Mass., to spend several weeks. Representative Allen T. Treadway entertained at luncheon yesterday at Stockbridge, Mass., when he had as his guests 525 Republican committee- men of the first Massachusetts dis- trict. Mr. James M. Landis, chairman of the Becurity and Exchange Commis- sion, entertained informally at lunch- eon yesterday at the Carlton. Mrs. Bristol Sails For Europe Tonight. Mrs. Bristol, wife of Rear Admiral Mark L. Bristol, will leave Washing- ton this afternoon for New York and will sail tonight aboard the Bremen for Europe. Mrs. Bristol is accom- panying her small goddaughter, Stephanie Pell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Pell, of New York and Paris, formerly of Washington, to Paris, where young Stephanie will Join her mother. She will be accompanied by her daughter, Miss Mary Edith Dew. Mrs, Giles Preston Newton Gibson, mother of the bride-elect, of Gibson, N. C, arrived in Washington Sundsy to attend the wedding of her daughter. She was accompanied by her son, Mr. Giles Yeomans Newton, and her son- in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Everett Grant Harris of Harlowton, Mont., who have been visiting her in Gibson, and relatives in Newtonville, 8.
