D—10 HEARING LIKELY ON LINCOLN ROAD Matter of Paving and Widening and Substitute Proposal May Be Taken Up. A public hearing probably will be held by the Commissioners before they reach a final decision on plans for widening and repaving Lincoln road northeast from V street to Michl- gan avenue and the substitute pro- posal of two Catholic institutions for | closing Lincoln road from Franklin street to Michigan avenue. A new contest over the proposal of District engineers arose recently when BUY YOULR Her Palmolive Soap In Kann’s Toilet Goods Dept. they included the widening and pav- ing project as one to be included in the Federal highway work here under the P. W. A. grant to the District. If approved, this is to be started soon. Officials of Trinity College and the Oblate Fathers, whose properties bor- der Lincoln road, have petitioned for closing of the section of Lincoln road adjoining their holdings, protesting against the traffic hazards. Chairman Norton of the House Dis- trict Committee has written the Com- missioners a strong indorsement of the plans of the two institutions. Asa sub- situte, they have offered to dedicate their share of land needed for their | proposal to open Franklin street from Lincoln road to Michigan avenue and to cut a diagonal road from Lincoln road to Fourth street as a substitute highway east of their properties.
