Frank, gen- | eral counsel of the organization, and three others, Christgau’s work had been delegated to section chiefs in the realignment of official duties. | Resented Milk Policy. ‘This action was declared by Christ- | gau’s friends to have capped a gradual | resentment he had felt toward the . progress of the administration’s milk policy. He was said to have felt that | milk distributors were getting most of the advantage in price increases and | other concessions intended for the benefit of milk producers. Secretary Wallace intimated at his press conference that resentment of Christgau toward the milk policy was at the source of trouble. When asked the reasons for the | resignations, Wallace declared he was | always reluctant to discuss “disagree- ments, irritations and things of that sort,” within the organization. Urging Christgau to Stay. He added that he was “still urging” Christgau to stay. Davis said he had received the resignation of his assist- ant, but declined to discuss it. He is! known to hold a deep personal regard | |for Christgau and was siding with Wallace in an effort to keep him | within the administration. However, Christgau, who formerly vsened in Congress as a Representative | from Minnesota. has been toying with the idea of returning to the political | field for almost a year. Last Summer he considered resigning to announce his candidacy for Congress, but was persuaded then to remain. Close friends indicated he is now | | considering carrying out his inten- tion and possibly running for the ‘Senate against Senator Schall, Re- | publican, of Minnesota, in 1936. Broke With Party in 1930. Originally a Republican, Christgau broke with the party in 1930 over enactment of the Smoot-Hawley tariff act and lost by scant margin as an independent in running for a place as Representative-at-large after the redistricting of Minnesota in 1932. Subsequently he became director of commodities in the A. A, A. shortly after its formation in May, 1933, serving directly under Davis until De- cember, 1933, when the latter was made administrator after the resigna- tion of George N. Peek. Chistgau fathered the change in| A. A. A milk policy in January, 1934, in which the policy of fixing resale prices of milk was dropped. Admin- istration of the policy was later given over to A. H. Lauterbach, chief of |the dairy section, however, and Christgau had little voice in execut- img it. THROATLESS: BABE HAPPY Thrives on Milk Diet Fed by Tube Into Stomach. NEWBURG, N.
