B—10 LORG DELIAT LTTLE GONERESS Senator Explains “Share-| the-Wealth” Plan to Capitol Group., Senator Huey P. Long “shared the wealth” last night—and a capacity audience of some 600 in the old House | eaucus rocm took it untd themselves with high glee. The occasion was a regular meeting of the Little Congress, an organiza- tion composed of employes in the legislative branch of the Government and shaping its procedure after the fashion of the United States Congress. | With Louisiana’s senatorial Kingfish | as the guest of honor, however, the junior assembly drew a better house; than ustally sees the parent organiza- | tion. 1 True to best congressional tradi-: tions, disagreement preceded the prin- | cipal business of the evening, and a | resolution was introduced by a Texas | delegate censuring the Entcruinmenci Committee for its selection of speak- | ers and requiring that a tentative pro- ! gram be drawn and approved by the | whole Congress in advance. Seemingly | aimed at Long, the resolution drew | the fire of Earle J. Christenberry, | secretary to the Senator. Finally the resolution was ruled out of order by ! Haskell Tidwell, presiding officer, and the ruling was upheld by vote. | Six batteries of Kleig lights, four | motion picture cameras and news | photographers by the half dozen set | the stage for the tousle-headed orator. | Huey did the rest—after two Capitol | policemen, a special Welcoming Com- mittee of the Little Congress, the Senator’s secretary and several of his | personal “friends” had helped him | fight his way through the tightly packed hall to a place in the center of things. Once there the Senator had hardly | warmed up when a flashlight bulb ex- ploded a few feet away. Startled, but | apparently ready to sacrifice himself, | the Senator showed less concern about, the incident than did the embarassed photographer. “I guess it's that bomb that didn't : explode yesterday,” the Kingfish ob- | served. The crowd laughed. i Once beyond interruption, the Sen- ator ripped into all his old enemies | and some of his newer ones. “I came here a clown,” he said, “now I'm a menace because somebody is paying attention to me.” CITY NEWS IN BRIEF.
