Christmas Eve she will hang her stocking at the fireplace in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Harry Payne Whit- ney, and she will awaken Christmas day to delight in present left there. At 10 o'clock the Whitney car will take the little heiress to “Reggie” Van- derbilt's millions, to her mother’s door. ‘There the mother and daughter will have eight hours together. Mother Gets Visits. The court decision yesterday pro- vides that the child, over whose cus- tody a bitter court fight is being made, spend week-ends, and Christ- mas, with her mother, and remain with her aunt the rest of the week. The ar- rangement, however, was made con- tingent upon Mrs. Whitney's consent- ing to it, the point being made that without Mrs. Whitney's consent the appeal of Mrs. Vanderbilt, which is now before the court, might be prej- | udiced. Some testimony taken before Justice John F. Carew at the court hearing, which denied Mrs. Vanderbilt's habeas corpus plea for full custody of her child several weeks ago, also was made public yesterday. The paternal aunt filed a transcript of the child’s interview with Justice Carew. The mother had submitted copies of letters from Gloria with circles and cross marks, which the child told the court meant “kisses and hugs.” “And at that time you hated your mother?” asked Mrs. Vanderbilt's counsel. “Yes,” the girl-heiress answered. “And you really didn’t mean it when you sent kisses and hugs?” the lawyer continued. “No.” CHICAGO-TO-MIAMI AIR ROUTE BLAZED Cocktail Shakers Quality Silver Plate Others up to $35; Between Fand G Sts. LOS ANGELES, December 19.— Amelia Earhart, the first woman to cross the Atlantic by airplane, may be the first to fly the treacherous water route from Honolulu to California. ‘When she sails next Saturday for Honolulu, the noted fiyer will take her airplane along. Her husband, George Palmer Putnam, publisher and motion picture executive, who will accompany her to Hawali, said it was “very prob- able” she would fly the plane back to California. “Miss Earhart has told no one defl- nitely that she even plans to make the flight from Honolulu to Oakland,” said Putnam. “She hates to talk about it and has asked me to tell whoever may be interested that she has no announcement to make now.” Putnam said her plans for a Hono- lulu-to-California flight are not com- plete and it was possible that she may take her plane to Hawaii only for flights between the islands. Putnam disclosed that his wife had two other long-distance flights under consideration, but declined to outline them. He intimated they might be to Mexico and South America, New Mines Encouraged.
