ODE PRE FNG TO G HEARINGS N.R.A. “Show” Is Promised on Policy Seen Headed for Business Discard. By the Assoclated Press. Price-fixing under the codes ap- peared well on the way out today as the N. R. A. prepared to listen next month to the opinions of every- body concerned in this long-trouble- some industrial recovery phase. Hearings called late yesterday by the Administrative Board will begin January 9 and are expected to pro- vide the first “big show” at Blue Eagle headquarters since the N.R. A. was reorganized a couple of months ago. Although Chairman 8. Clay Wil- liams confirmed that ideas developed during the hearing may be used in shaping new N. I. R. A. legisiation this Winter, he insisted immediate administrative problems are the pri- mary objective. Besides price-fixing, other subjects, such as employment, small business and production con- trol, tentatively were set to be taken up at later sessions. There have been increasingly strong indications since the old N. R. A. set- up was abandoned that price-fixing was in growing disfavor. The board had this to say in announcing the hearings: “In the usual case it is incon- sistent with the most effective func- tioning of our industrial system to have in or under codes of fair com- petition price-fixing in the form of . permanent schedules of minimum prices, with or without mandatory costing systems for the purpose of establishing minimum prices. * * * nor’s mansion in Maine.
