. FEDERAL BAR WIL REGENVE REPORTS Next Meeting to Be Held by Association at Univer- sity Club. The Federal Bar Association will hold its next regular meeting in the University Club, Fifteenth and I streets, Thursday night, January 15, at 8 o'clock. Assistant Attorney General Charles P. Sisson is to address the meeting. Among other features of the meeting are to be reports of the association’s committees, including one by the com- mittee interested in obtaining Saturday half holidays throughout the year and enother by its committee interested in larger appropriations for increases of salaries in pending appropriation bills. Attorney General Mitchell will be toastmaster at the annual dinner of the association in the Mayflower Hotel on the evening of February 12. The dinner is scheduled to start at 7:30 o'clock. Hughes to Be Speaker. Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes of the United States Supreme Court is to be the principal speaker at the din- ner. Plans for the affair are in charge of & committee headed by Rowland S. H. Dyer of the General Counsel's Office, Bureau of Internal Revenue. Supreme Court to Teach at National University. Judge Oscar R. Luhring, one of the two most recent appointees to the bench of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, has been named professor of suretyship at National University, ac- cording to an announcement made last night by John L. Cassin, dean of the University Law School, for Dr. Charles F. Carusl, chancellor, Judge Luhring, the sixth active jurist to become a membersof National's faculty for the current sixty-second Winter term, will give his first lecture at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. His lectures in course will continue at the same hour thereafter each Wednesday and Satur- day. A native of Indiana, Judge Luhring served as deputy prosecuting attorney and subsequently prosecuting attorney of the first judicial circuit of that State. In 1919 he was elected to Congress, serving two terms in the House. Oftener, Veterans Administrator Hines an- nounced yesterday that discharges of veterans from 10 National Soldiers’ Homes would be limited to 10 men weekly, and that physical examinations would be held more often. He made the announcement in dis- closing that no more time would be mkfl 175 veterans to be released the Soldiers’ Home at Leaven- worth, but that, beginning Monday, they would be discharged at the rate of 10 men a week. The purpose of the change, he said, is to spread the number of releases over considerable time, instead of dis- charging groups.
