Mrs. Julia Taylor Parsons Bodfish, the organizer and first president of the | Washington Y. W. C. A, died yesterday at Homeopathic Hospital after ‘a linger- ing illness. Mrs. Bodfish, who had been identified with Washingion more than 50 years, was 87 years old. Born in Ludlow, Mass., of Puritan an- cestry, she received her r!lrly education in that town, and became a district schoolmistress at the age of 15. After being graduated from Mount Holyoke | "%} Seminary in 1865 she taught for several | vears in Ohio, Michigan and New Jersey, | specializing in music. | In 1872 she was married to Sumner| H. Bodfish, a West Point graduate. Funeral services for William Edward Shannon, 55 years old, president of Middaugh & Shannon, Inc., realty and construction firm, who died in Fort Myers, Fla.. Monday, were conducted at his home, 3200 Woodley road, this aft- ernoon. Dr. G. G. Johnson, pas- tor of the National Baptist Memorial Church, officiated.
