NDREW JACKSON MARSER UNVELED Representative Stevenson Lauds Life Record at Rock Hill, S. C., Service. By the Associated Press. ROCK HILL, 8. C., May 28—8peak- ing yvesterday at the unveiling of &/ boulder marking the spot in Lancaster | County. said to be the birthplace of Andrew Jackson, Rewesentative W. F. Stevenson of South Carolina, lauded Jackson as a soldier, citizen and a President As a goldier he had remarkable genius and demonstrated it by his defeat of the Indian tribes, declared the Con- gressman. As a eitizen, he said, Jack- son was a lawyer, judge, prosecuting at- torney and planter, and was a success in each field. As President, he said, Jackson was clear-headed, progressive and dom| t. Unveiling of the marker was held at the James Crawford plantation, 10 miles from Lancaster. The marker, attached to a boulder, was erected by the Ca- tawba County , Daughters of the American itiom. ‘The Jegend on the front of the marker reads: “] lace of Andrew Jackson, brave, it, noble, able, honest. ‘This marker erected by Ca- tawba .. D. A. R, Rock Hill, November, 1928." On the rear is an inscription from a ! letter said to have been written by Jackson to a Lancaster citizen.
