THE ~EVENING COOLIDGE PLEASED ATWESTERN TRIP CDnv;nced He Made Many Friends During Visit to Minnesota. President Coolidge Is fairly certain that his recent trip to Minnesota was a success from every viewpoint, He was inclined to be consclous of this while among the people of that State, judging from the reception he received and the general acclaim ac- corded him and the speech he mude last Monday, but since his return to the White House he has besn re- celving the judgment of others. Scores of telegrams and letters have been received at the White House from persons in Minnesota which told the President visit made a deep and signifi pression in the Northwest & gesting that this will be Kresge Departmenti Stores BTAR,” WASHINGTON, set in the future. Besides these wel- come messages, President Coolidge has received personal assurances re- garding the success of this trip. Among his callers today was Andrew Rahn, prominent in Republican poli- tics and in the business activities of Minneapolis, who had an opportunity to witness something of the reaction among his fellow townsmen, following the presidential invasion, before leav- ing there a day after the departure of the President’s party. Plans Other Trips. Mr. Rahn stated that the President made many friends during his visit. The people generally of that section like his style and his apparent sin- cerity, and are very enthusiastic over the manner in which he is endeavor- ing to bring about economy in the Goernment and a reduction in taxes, according to Mr. Rahn. The latter had no hesitancy in saying that the President’s presence in their midst and his speech at the fair grounds ‘were responsible for swinging many thousands of men and women to his banner who formerly had been Iuke- warm, if not actually antagonistic, to- ward Mr. Coolldge and his policies. Close friends of the President, while discussing this trip, are of the opin- ion that, judging from the reaction, the President showed great wisdom in going to that section when he did.
