Gibbons Burke of New Orleans arrived Thursday with their three children to visit Mrs, Burke's mother, Mrs. D. C. Shea. Mrs. Burke was the former Mary Rose Shea. Mr. and Mrs. Horace E. Alexander ©of Chevy Chase had as their guests for several days Mr. and Mrs. Albert V. Alexander, cousins of Mr. Horace Alexander, and Sir Fred Hayward and Lady Hayward of London, who have been touring in this country. Mr. Alexander was chairman of the British delegation attending the Insti- tute of Pacific Relations, which was held in Yosemite Lodge, Yosemite, National Park, Calif. Mr. Alexander has been interested in politics in his country for a number of years and was first lord of the admirality in the MacDonald cabinet. Col. L. M. Maus, U. 8. A, retired, and Mrs. Maus have gone to Battle Creek, Mich., where Col. Maus, who has been seriously ill for several months, will confer with Dr. John H. Kellogg and enter the sanitarium.
