The Federal Reserve Board reported that & new incoming tide of goid, in- cluding a single shipment of more than $80,000,000, lifted domestic stocks of the metal for the week ended De- cember 4 to $10,009,000,000. This was a new all-time high. The board’s weekly statement on condition of member banks disclosed that, chiefly as a result of the gold in- crease, member bank reserve balances rose $116,000,000 during the week to a total of $5,905,000,000, which was $3,~ 180,000,000 in excess of legal require-- ments. The condition statement said: “The daily average volume of Fed- eral Reserve Bank credit oustanding | during the week ended December 4, as | | reported by the Federal Reserve banks, was $2,475,000,000, practically un- changed from the preceding week and $16,000,000 above the corresponding week in 1934, “On December 4 total reserve bank credit amounted to $2,470,000,000, a de- crease of $2,000,000 for the week. This decrease corresponds with increases of $135,000,000 in monetary gold stock and $21,000,000 in Treasury and na- tional bank currency, offset in part by increases of $116,000,000 in member bank reserve balances, $23,000,000 in money in circulation and $11,000,000 in non-member deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts, member bank reserve balances on December 4 were estimated to be approximately $3,180,000,000 in excess of legal re- quirements. “Relatively small changes were re- ported in holdings of discounted and | purchased bills and industrial advances. An increase of $21,000,000 in holdings of United States Treasury bills was offset by a decrease of $21,000,000 in holdings of Treasury notes.” DIVIDENDS ANNOUNCED NEW_YORK.
