ATLANTA, December 6.— Mrs. John Mayfield, wife of an Atlanta fire captain, was acquitted last night of a murder charge in the slaying of her pretty love rival, Mrs, Lucille Dixon, a cigar factory worker. ‘The jurors, all men, returned the verdict after deliberating little more than an hour, to end the three-day trial that drew overflow crowds to every session.
