PALO ALTO, Calif,, October 24— An avalanche of mail, pouring in on former President Herbert Hoover after his latest attack on the administra- tion of President Roosevelt, was de- clared fast night by Paul Sexson, Hoover's secretary, to be “99 per cent commendatory.” Sexson “assayed” the pile of letters and telegrams and had his report ready for Hoover on the later’s return from & recent trip. He made his findings public last night. Tens of thousands of letters have come to Palo Alto since Hoover re- tired from the presidency. Speech Brought Peak. The Belgian Labor party and the | Netherlands Socialist Democratic party sent representatives to the services, which were attended also by the Soviet | Ambassador and the Japanese charge d'affaires. GREEN BAY, Wis, October 24—Prank Neu, insurance sales- man, smiled proudly yesterday ‘when a Milwaukee baby specialist told him his twin sons, born Sat- urday, could claim some weight records. ‘The babies, John and Frank, weighed eight pounds each at birth, their aggregate poundage exceeding that of the Dionne quintuplets at birth. Dr. F. E. Kohan, Milwaukee, said the average twin weighs from four and one-half to five and one-half pounds, and rarely does one weigh as much as eight ‘pounds. LOCAL UNION CHARTERED Custodial Service Workers Affili- ate With National Federation. Local Union No. 541, composed of Custodial Service workers, has been chartered by the National Federation of Federal Employes, Miss Gertrude M. McNally, secretary-treasurer, an- nounced today. DELAY OF ELECTION IN OHIO UPHELD State Supreme Court Denies Davey Arbitrary—@. 0. P. Sought Test Vote. By the Assoclated Press. COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 24— The Ohio Supreme Court refused late yesterday to require Gov. Martin L. Davey to set an earlier date for a special election to fill the congressional vacancy caused by the death of Charles V. Truax, Ohio Representa- tive at Large. Shortly after Gov. Davey had set YOUR MO next May's primary for nominating candidates and the following Novem- ber for electing Truax’s successor, Re- publican spokesmen claimed he was attempting to avoid an early test of New Deal strength in Ohio. The Governor contended the call- ing of an early off-date election would gg;t too much, approximately $500,- H. O.
