SUMMARY OF BONDS ON THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE 1.5, BONDS HOLD TOLOWER COURSE Selling Pressure Eases Slightly—Corporate Loans Narrow. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, September 14.—The bond market finished the week today with prices pointing in varying direc- tions. U. 8. Government securities con- tinued to act as a retarding influence on the list, as a whole, although sell- ing in this department was not so heavy as in the preceding session. At the close declines of 1-32nd to 8-32nds of a point predominated emong the Federals. Dealers were still somewhat con- fused as to the softness of Govern- ments although, in some quarters, it was thought that reports from Wash- ington that the Treasury intended soon to resume its auction offerings may have caused part of the liquida- tion. Banking circles have been op- posed to the disposition of Govern- ment isues on a bid basis. Corporation loans backed and filled Indifferently. The turnover of all bonds amounted to $5176,000, par value, against $6,713,000 last Satur- day. Firmness of scattered industrials enabled the Associated Press average for this group to creep up .2 of a point to 99.3, a new year's high, but the utilities composite fell back .2 and that for the rails was unchanged. Among company obligations that moved up fractions to a point or so were Warner Bros. Pictures 6s at 81, Manhattan 4s at 72'2, Interboro Rapid Transit 6s at 77, Bethlehem Steel 5s at 11215, U. S. Rubber 55 at 973, Erie General Lien 4s at 783, M. K. & T. 55 at 42, N. Y. Central Consolidated 4s at 85% and Santa Fe Bs at 109%. Losers of moderate amounts included New England Telephone 5s at 12214, Peoples Gas at 1065, American Water Works 6s at 9215, Laclede Gas 5'5s at 76%, North American Edison 5125 at 101%; and Tennessee Electric 6s at 100%3. BRITAIN PROSPERS AS EUROPE MOVES INTU WAR CLOUDS | (Continued From First Page.) have been so pronounced in recept‘ months as to cause serious unrest in certain parts of the country. Recov- ery is possible, without shifting the present wage levels or living costs. “Announced, but without details, was the fact that construction is sbout to begin on a huge synthetic rubber plant. “After a week, subscriptions to Dr. SBchacht's vast consolidation loan is barely 70 per cent subscribed, in spite of various forms of pressure exerted on the public.
