One hundred and eleven volunteer workers for the District of Columbia Chapter of the American Red Cross devoted 1,968 hours to service for the chapter during August, the monthly report of the local unit shows. Among the activities of these work- ers were the following: First aid—Four classes conducted, 73 students, many of them policemen and Boy Scouts, Life saving—Swimming and life- saving tests and instruction in 22 pools in city and in eight camps outside of city. Swimming tests were passed by 340 beginners and 201 advanced stu- dents, 97 passed their junior life-sav- ing tests and 32 passed the senior tests.
