DVIDENDS VOTED BY WESTINGHOUSE First Cash Payment Since April, 1932, Authorized on Common Stock. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, July 31.—The West- inghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. today resumed dividends on its common stock with a declaration of 50 cents, payable August 30 to stock of record August 13. This is the first cash dividend au- thorized on the junior stock since April 30, 1932, when 25 cents was dis- bursed. However, on February 20, 1933, the company distributed to shareholders part of its holdings of Radio Corp. of America securities. The dividend ordered today was not designated as a regular payment. Westinghouse Electric’s earnings picked up sharply in the first half of the year, amounting to $2.37 a share of common stock against a deficit of $31,725 in the first half of last year. Inland Steel Net Up. Other earnings reports included: Inland Steel Co., quarter ended June 30, net profit $2,392,510 compared with $2,129,198 in the June quarter last year. Standard of California. June quarter, net income, $5,692,~ 120, equal to 43 cents a share of cap- ital stock, against $4,891,022, or 37| cents e share, in the March quarter and $4,017,243, or 31 cents, in the June quarter, 1934. Zonite Products Corp. Quarter ended June 30, net loss, $308,524, against net loss of $195,140 in the March quarter, making net loss for 6 months ended June 30 of $503,- 664. National Steel Corp. Quarter ended June 30, net profit of $3,191,169 after charges, equal to $148 a shere on 2,155,777 shares, against $3,367,632 in the preceding quarter and $2,593,369 in the June quarter of 1934. Wheeling Steel Corp. Quarter ended June 30, net profit, $668,300 after charges, equivalent after quarterly dividend requirements on the preferred stock to 25 cents a share on 387,326 no par shares of common stock, compares with $934,571 in the preced- ing quarter and $1,134,511 or $1.39 a share on 402,301 common shares in the June quarter of 1934. Standard Brands, Inc. Quarter ended June 30, net income of $2,832,303, after ordinary charges, but before profit and loss items, equal after dividends on the preferred stock to 21 cents a share of common, against $2,984,071 or 22 cents a share in the preceding quarter and $4,087,961 or 31 cents a share in the June quarwr last year. Motor Wheel Corp. Six months ended June 30, net profit $505,377, equal to 59 cents a share of capital stock, against $608,- 901, or 72 cents a share, in the first half last year. Calumet & Hecla Copper. Six months ended June 30 indicated profit before depletion §132,041, against net loss of $881,696 in the first half of 1934. Procter & Gamble. Procter & Gamble and subsidiaries, fiscal year ended June 30, net profit $15,120,324, equal, after dividend re- quirements on preferred stock to $2.23 & share on the common compared with $14,370,066, or $2.09 common share in previous year. CUBA EXPORTS MORE SUGAR. NEW YORK, July 31 (#).—Cuban exports of sugar to the United States for the period January 1 to July 27 totaled 1,156,033 tons, against 618,- 953 tons for the like period last year, according to Lamborn & Co. sugar brokers.
