WIDOW SETTLES IN DEATH PLOT Mrs. Daiches Agrees to Drop Suits and Accept $67,000. B7 the Associated Press. CHICAGO, March 15.—Mrs. Belle Daiches, whose husband, El, was killed by shotgun assassins in Chica- go a year ago, today agreed to settle | three civil suits growing out of the crime for a consideration of $67,000. The sults were against the Thomas Bowers Advertising Agency, its presi- dent, Louis J. Weitzman, Irving Weitz~ man and others. Irving Weitzman already is under sentence of life imprisonment as author of the death plot. The settle- ment was far less than the $350,000 total insurance for which the crime allegedly was committed. Under the agreement, arranged with court approval, Mrs. Daiches is to receive from Louis Weitzman 210 shares of capital stock in the adver- | tising agency, which with the two shares she already holds will be turned back for the $67,500 consideration. Daiches formerly was head of the agency.
