Death re- sulted from a paralytic stroke suffered on March 2 as he prepared for a matinee performance in his dressing room. He was 70 years old. Harrison, Canadian-born son of former slaves, was snatched from ob- scurity at 66 .0 become the star of one of the most successful plays of the American theater.
