AIRPORT LEASING PROVIDED IN BILL McSwain Would Give New Commission Authority to Condemn Land. Leasing by the Federal Government of Washington Airport for a term of five years, closing the Military road across the airport, improvement of the landing area and buildings and the creation of 8 commission of five members to establish and op- erate a permanent model airport for Washington at the end of the five- year period, are provided in a bill introduced in the House yesterdsy by Representative McSwain of South Carolina. The bill was referred to the House Military Affairs Committee, of which McSwain is chairman. The bill provides for the imme- diate creation of the airport com- mission, members of which are to be appointed by the President, one to be & resident of the District, one of nearby Virginia, one of nearby Mary- land, one from the Army Air Corps and one from the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics. ‘The commission would be empow- ered to appoint a manager and other officials and employes of the airport.
