Cooke's Affernoon Reception Is Largely Attended. The House of Courtesy Officers’ Hops Begin. ANNAPOLIS, Md., October 17.—The | social season at Annapolis was in full swing this week. Capt. and Mrs. Henry D. Cooke's first afternoon reception, Wednesday afternoon, in the com- mandant's quarters in the Naval Acad- emy, was largely attended. The first of the officers’ hops took place in Mahan Hall last evening. Rear Admiral and Mrs. Thomas C. Mrs. Clement and daughters moved Wednesday to Ogle Hall, the residence of Mrs. Mason Porter Cusachs on College avenue, which they have taken for the Winter and Spring Mrs. Cusachs and her daughter, Miss Margarite Cusachs, after several weeks in Maryland and Washington, will go to New York to spend the Winter. Mrs. Woodward Phelps, jr., and her young son, after spending the Summer in Annapolis, where they occupied a house on King Charles place, are now guests of Mrs. Phelps’ grandmother, Mrs. Prederick Jay Cotton, in her coun- try home, San Roco, at Waterbury, near Annapolis.
