Lewis of Lynchburg, president of the Virginia Fox Hunters' Association, won first and fourth in the all-age stake of the tenth annual trials of the essociation being held here this week, with his hounds Pop Blackwell and Mona Stone. Pop Blackwell, by Banjo, out of Fannie, won first. Second went to Tchad, by Delta Stride, out of Rowdy's Bell. owned by Pocahontas Kennels of Richmond. Alice, owned by Miss Shearer of Orange, Va., won third and Mona Stone by Banjo, out of Fan- nie. owned by Mr. Lewis, won fourth. | Silver plate and trophies were given as prizes. Judges for the trials were Dr. F. A Sinclair of Newport News, Va.; Jeflerson C. Phillips, Martindale, Amherst, Va.: J. E. . Flint Hill, Va.. and C. C. Dor- £ey, Glenarm, Md. William Skinker of ‘The Plains was M. F. H. for the trials. David Rust was field master. Stone. deputy State health pificer of Carroll County, has advised parents in this section to have their children between the ages of 1 and 12 rears immuned against diphtheria fol- lowing the discovery of approximately 12 cases in the Unionville neighborhood by_the Frederick County health officer. First discovered in upper Frederick County, the disease assumed epidemic proportions, and Dr. Stone has taken | every precaution to keep it from | spreading into Carroll County.
