l.‘ ' B-§ LOGAN GRCLE UT FORROAD PPLSED Citizens Protest Serenading by Park Bench Denizens in Night Hours. ‘The District Highway Department’s plan to cut Thirteenth street through the middle of Logan Circle met with a vote of protest last night at a meet- ing of the Logman-Thor)as Circle Citi- wens' Association, which contended that such a procedure would mar the beauty of the park. At the same meeting the civic group scored the romantically inclined who appreciate the beauties of the circle and occupy its park benches to sing love ballads and sentimental serenades to the annoyance of local residents. The citizens were of one accord that “something should be done” about the Springtime fancies of young men and their wooed ones, and the group decided to confer with police in an effort to bring about a virtual curfew on Logan Circle, at least for “spooners.” Mrs. E. J. Brennan, who last night was elected president of the assoclation, will head a delegation to confer with au- thorities toward ousting the serenaders | from their nlghu'ighmm, Mrs. Ella M. Thompson was elected president of the civic body for the fifth consecutive year. Mrs. Edna Clark was chosen secretary, and Mrs. H. M. Fulton and H. E. Young were appointed as delegates to the Federation of Citizens’ Associations. In placing itself on record in opposi~ tion to the plan to run Thirteenth manner in which Sixteenth street inter- sects Scott Circle, the citizens felt that the circle’s attractiveness to a great ex- tent would be lost.
