DEMOCRATIC BOD IGSUES STATEMENT Montgomery Committee Out- lines Party Stand in County. By a Staft Correspondent of The Star. ROCKVILLE, Md., October 22.—A statement that the Montgomery County | Democratic State Central Ccmmittee | and the Candidates Committee wish | ta co-operate with all Democrats in the county and propose to continue to consider as Democrats all who will work or vote for the Democratic candidates, was issued yesterday over the signa- tures of members of both committees When questioned this morning_re- garding the statement, Stedman Pres- cott, chairman of the Candidates Com- mitfee, said he thought it spoke for itself and that he had nothing to add to it No Formal Action Planned. Berry E. Clark, chairman of the| State Central Committee, explained ihe | statement by saying that the ccunty Democratic organization had failed received the co-operation of various mem- bers of the progressive faction of the party. He said that the Democratic organization will cease to consider as Democrats all those who oppose the | Democratic candidates in the Noven ber clecticn. DENVER, Colo,, October 22.—Gopal Singh Khalsa, one of three representa- tives in this country of the Indian Na- tional Congress, composed of adherents to the cause of Mahatma Gandhi, last night took Miss Irene Hall, 20, co-ed of the University of Colorado, as his bride. Khalsa met the girl a year ago while he was eonducting a series of lectures at the university at Boulder. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hall of Boulder and was a freshman at the university. The Indian has been identified with the Gandhi movement since the Amrit- sar massacre in 1919. In addition to his writings, Khalsa operates_the Hin- dustani, a newspaper in San Francisco. After a honeymoon trip through Eu- rope the couple will go to India, where Khalsa intends to start a chain of news- papers, providing the British ban on na- tive press is lifted. WINCHESTER, Va., October 22.— Bench warrants for the arrest of a number of veniremen and witnesses were issued today in Circuit Court by Judge Philip Williams after their names hndgbeen called and they failed to re- spond. The court found it necessary, as s result of their failure to appear, to declare a recess and rearrange the docket. J. D. McIlwee and R. C. Gar- rett, who had been summoned as pro- spect jurors, had sent word that ‘they “would not be in,” as they were picking apples. Several witnesses gave the same excuse for not obeying the summons of the court. Judge Williams directed warrants to be issued forth- with, citing the men for contempt of court.
